Rome (Italy) – 2009
An old butcher shop from the beginning of the 20th century was chosen by two young fashion designers to become their sewing workshop and sales area. This is a place highly characterized by the presence of the original furniture, in particular by the presence of a carved marble counter; on the walls, dressed in marble, rows of butcher’s fangs.
The space is arranged for the inauguration by creating a luminous atmosphere reminiscent of the incandescent lights of the old workshops. A set of black rubber cables like those of old sewing machines forms a kind of tree trunk which descends from the ceiling; at the end of the threads, the sleeves stop at different heights until they almost touch the ground. The filament bulbs, of different sizes and shapes, create a warm, autumnal atmosphere, whose story is complemented by an undergrowth of plane tree leaves and umbrella pine needles.
